The Waterfolk: How and Why

In a favorite novel,  a mom and her son are dancing around in the sparkling shower of a sprinkler,  "whooping and stomping as sane people ought to do when they encounter a thing so miraculous as water.”

Water IS indeed miraculous--and is THE hot button issue of our near future.  So vital, so beautiful, seemingly simple, yet awesomely powerful, and--so taken for granted.  Critical to ALL life, yet more endangered than we care to believe.  Its' increasing scarcity is pitting good people against each other. Endangering our very civility.

Nearly 15 years ago, while painting a mural on my kids' wall, a water creature was somehow born-a Drop. Which led to a Drop Family.....which spun into a story, & finally The Waterfolk emerged. They began to talk. They wouldn't stop. They kept saying more and more about their concerns for people without clean water, about drought, reefs dying, ph changes, pollutants & the Pacific Garbage dump. The Waterfolk INSISTED that we tell their stories. And so we shall......
